AVEDA Chakra Balancing Massage

Our Chakra Balancing Massage is focused on helping clients’ overall health by realigning the energy sources, called chakras, throughout the body. These sources of energy have been an important part of Ayurveda, a method of healing that originated in India. The Ayurvedic use of healing through natural techniques and products is a great representation of our own beliefs and it’s why many of our massage services utilise the same methods.

In Ayurveda, there are seven sources of energy that exist within a person’s body. Each source is responsible for maintaining and controlling a certain area of the body and in extension, a particular aspect of one’s life. For example, the first chakra is located at the base of the spine and is the foundation of a balanced life. Moving to a new place, shifting your career, or another major change could throw off the balance of this chakra.

Should you choose this massage it will help to ease tension, soothe the mind and bring balance to your Chakra system. It consists of 3 steps; Deep tissue massage, Reflexology & Energy work.

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage can be defined as the use of classic massage techniques to manipulate soft tissue for relaxation and holistic therapeutic purposes. It is the foundation of many Western massage practices such as acupressure massage, aromatherapy massage and reflexology, based on the theory of releasing tension by applying pressure to meridian points along the body.

As with traditional forms of Swedish massage our treatments are given on a couch with the therapist using various techniques and movements to apply the amount perfect amount of pressure that is appropriate for you. The treatment should not hurt, so please let the therapist know if it does so they can adjust the pressure accordingly. This is typically a very relaxing treatment.

The many benefits of Swedish massage include:

  • Pain Management

  • Relaxation

  • Increased circulation

  • Decreased fatigue

  • Reduction in Anxiety and depression

Indian Head Massage

A typical Indian head massage treatment, usually starts with the shoulders, working into this area especially as it often holds a lot of tension. The upper back may also be massaged working around the shoulder blade. Following this, flowing motions will move up the neck massaging and stretching to relieve any stress and tension. Finally, the scalp is then massaged along the acuppresure points on the head, followed up by the forehead and the area around the eyes. The upper back and arms can also be massaged depending on the techniques being used.

Our Indian Head massages are coupled with oils, which condition the hair and promotes growth and healthy skin. We use Organic Coconut oil to help develop healthy strong hair, although treatments without oils can be requested. These still have naturally conditioning effects however, as the techniques used will loosen the hair follicles which increases natural hair oil.

A brief history of Indian head massage

The Indian head massage is an ancient therapeutic practice used in India for 1,000 years, usually by mothers on their daughters. It is part of the practice of medicine called Ayurveda, which aims to promote long life and balance the body’s energies. It was often used with spices and herbs that would promote good health and skin.

The benefits of Indian head massage

There are so many benefits to Indian head massage; here are just a few:

  • Promotes hair growth by increasing oxygen in the hair follicles which stimulates growth and health.

  • Prevents headaches and migraines by releasing built-up tension in the head and neck area and relieving muscle stiffness

  • Renews and balances energy levels by working with the three higher chakras

  • Relieves symptoms of depression and anxiety through relaxation

  • Boosts memory capabilities by relieving stress and quieting the mind

  • Stimulates lymphatic drainage by circulating blood to the neck area

  • Better sleep by reducing stress

  • Improves circulation of cerebral spinal fluid

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a massage technique that’s mainly used to treat musculoskeletal issues, such as strains and sports injuries. It involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues. This helps to break up scar tissue that forms following an injury and reduce tension in muscle and tissue.

Deep tissue massage is best suited for people who engage in highly physical activities, such as running, or those who have an injury or chronic pain. If you have a low pain threshold or are looking for relief of tense muscles, Swedish Massage is gentler and may be a better option. Speak to your doctor before trying deep tissue massage if you have an underlying medical condition

Before your deep tissue massage, your massage therapist will want to know about your problem areas. A deep tissue massage can involve your entire body or just one area. Once ready, you’ll be asked to lie on your back or stomach, under a sheet. Your level of undress is based on your comfort, but the area being worked on will need to be exposed. The massage therapist will warm up your muscles using a lighter touch. Once you’re warmed up, they’ll start working on your problem areas. They’ll use deep kneading and stroking with varying amounts of intense pressure.

Benefits of deep tissue massage

Deep tissue massage offers both physical and psychological benefits. Unlike other massage techniques that focus on relaxation, deep tissue massage helps to treat muscle pain and improve stiffness. But it can still help to you unwind mentally, too.

Other benefits of Deep Tissue Massage include:

  • reduced chronic pain

  • improved blood pressure

  • breaking up scar tissue

  • help with rehabilitating injured muscles

  • stress relief

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy is a specific type of therapy that incorporates the use of scented essential oils into a massage. The massage involves alternating between gentle and harder pressure while using a specific blend of essential oils. The essential oils are diluted before use and are applied along with lotion during the massage. Not only is the client's body benefiting with the direct contact with the essential oils, but the oils are alleged to have specific healing properties upon inhaling after exposure. The types of oils used will change your sensory journey and will depend on what you body and mind needs.

What are the benefits of Aromatherapy?

Aroma therapeutic massage not only has the client leaving with a full body massage, but they can also provide emotional healing and relaxation.

Benefits of a Aromatherapy massage includes:

  • Stress reducing

  • Anxiety reliever

  • Increased calmness and relaxation
